The Chronicle of Ken Muir
Monygof is the westernmost vill in Desnes Mor. It lies on the east bank of the River Crioch, which means ‘boundary’ in gaelic, in light of the fact that it forms the boundary between the deaneries of Desnes Mor and Farines, and now also the boundary between Eastern and Western Galloway.
There is a small kirk located nearby. From here the old Roman Edinburgh road heads up into the hills toward The Covenant of Ken Muir, and another old Roman road heads east toward Anewith.
